Every Sunday Film Review UK will put a ‘Spotlight‘ on a gem of both modern and classic cinema* that will make these short, dark and wintery Sunday nights a little more berable. Whether it be for the whole family, a couple snuggled up on the sofa with mugs of hot chocolate, or just yourself trying to forget the coming Monday – sit down, relax and put a ‘Winter Spotlight‘ movie on.
We hope you enjoyed last week’s Spotlight film, Hector and the Search for Happiness – for the second movie in Film Review UK‘s brand-new ‘Spotlight‘ series we give you The Lucky Ones (2008).
This little known, but equally brilliant drama stars Tim Robbins, Rachel McAdams and Michael Pena as three stranded soldiers who’ve just arrived back on US soil for some well-earned R&R. Unfortunately when all flights are unexpectedly cancelled, the three strangers soon find themselves carpooling together in order to reach their intended destinations. All with equally pressing engagements, their time together soon proves eventful as their lives begin to unravel around them, resulting in them forging a bond just a strong as the ones they’ve built over in Iraq.
The Lucky Ones is the perfect Sunday afternoon movie that provides enough drama, comedy and bizarre weather to leave ready for the week ahead.
