Irobot Roomba 620 Review

How awesome are robotic vacuum cleaners? I absolutely love them and only recently found out that they existed but they have been around for quite a while now. The technology is improving all the time.

They seem like a real time saver. But so much can go wrong with them. A poor robotic vacuum cleaner is going to be virtually worthless. You can just imagine it… smashing into your furniture and spewing dust everywhere.

But a good one – well that could actually save hours of your time! It will clean when you’re at work or out of the house. So where does the Irobot Roomba 620 sit?

Irobot Roomba 620 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner

The Roomba 620 is a relatively new device which has already receive lots of positive reviews. It genuinely does a great job of cleaning the house. It covers 95% of what you’re going to vacuum. Obviously there are a few places it can’t go (that’s to be expected), but it can also do a better job at cleaning the hard to reach places, like under the sofa. It’s small enough to get into these places so can actually do a better job than cleaning with an old fashioned vacuum cleaner.

Features

The Roomba looks sleek, modern and futuristic. Definitely not hard on the eyes but it may look out of place in an older looking home. But the most important things you need to know is what it can do.

It’s surprisingly good at going over a wide range of surfaces – rugs, carpet wooden floor, rough brick floor. It cleans them all equally well. Luckily it’s so advanced that it knows where the stairs are in a house. So it will never damage itself by falling down them! These sensors also stop it crashing into objects. The Roomba in genuinely an advanced piece of technology.

In terms of the software in use, it’s also incredible advanced. The robot actually learns your house layout and does multiple passes (which should mean less bumps!). All you need to do is empty it! It even recharges itself in its own dock.

How does it work?

The Roomba 620 maps out a 360 degree view of the room so it can clean everywhere. It usually does this by going around the outside of the room. Kind of so it can scan it. This helps it know where it has cleaned, and where it hasn’t cleaned. It even knows when it’s done one room and then moves onto the next. The device uses iAdapt Responsive Cleaning Technology, this means it can use complex sensors to find the most dirty areas of the floor and give them preferential cleaning treatment.

Automated cleaning is a great idea, especially when the device works as well as the Roomba 620. This device will save you time. The only downside is you won’t burn off as many calories doing the house work!
